Imagine a sweaty evening, not promising any improvement, in mid-April in Pune. Those who stay in Pune know what I am talking about! What comes to your mind that will give you respite from the dripping sweat??? Well, all ICE CANDY lovers know the answer, right?

With this bright idea, me and my friend decided to give ourselves a treat! Simple are the things which give us pleasure and thus, we decided to have an AMUL Orange Flavoured Ice Candy.

Both of us started our expedition for an Ice Candy…starting with the general stores, which promise to provide all the things for daily need…only to realise that an ice candy doesn’t come under the cover of ‘daily need’ in summers

We continued searching from shop to shop till the count raised to 3 shops….and still no sign of an ice-candy. Then, we spotted our treasure in one shop…but it was not an AMUL Orange flavoured Ice Candy, instead a dual flavoured candy from Mother’s Dairy. Not willing to compromise, we explored two more shops. But the orange ice-candy seemed to have decided ignore us and thus we had to come back to shop no. 3 to fetch the other one….a mango and strawberry flavoured one.

But, it seems, getting an ice-candy is not a cake walk. By the time, we reached shop no.3, the shop keeper had changed and this new one confidently declared that the ice-candy is not in stock. What’s more, he even consulted the previous one and both of them concurred that Mother’s Dairy’s product is not an ice candy, irrespective of what the company promises.

After a small skirmish with the shop-keeper, and finally bowing to accept that the Mother’s Dairy product was not an ice-candy, we still purchased the same and came out of the shop.

Feeling on top of the world, we finally relished “my preciousssss” standing on our bike…which reminded us of the childhood and college days. With this nostalgic feeling in mind, we finished our respective yummy ice candies and decided to post this on our blogs…so here it is…ALL FOR AN ICE-CANDY!!!

7 days in a week,

7 colors in the rainbow,

7 swars in a saptak,

7 oceans in the world...

The year of the 7 is ticking away…add one and it will be 2008.

The year already has an addition…so why not join and ‘leap’ ahead ourselves!!!

Let’s all usher in 2008 with an addition to what has been….

Hiiiii, I am back to writing after a long time….so this time it’s a post for a change and not a poem

Now, just as I began my bike journey today morning, I witnessed an accident which could have proven breath-taking in the ‘literal’ sense for someone. Two bicycle-riders, both having pillion riders, were made to bite the dust by a hurrying motor-cycle man. The guy on the mobike brushed the pillion rider on the outer bicycle.

The pillion rider fell on his right side and his sweater got hooked on the front-wheel break of another mobike rider who was just behind. Good thing that this one was not rushing and stopped there itself, or else the pillion rider would have gone sweeping the road…..and who knows how dangerous that might have gone on to be!!!

This popped a couple of question in my mind…
Do we really need to move so fast on the road endangering lives ?
What important job awaits us that we move in a flurry and get involved ( in accidents ) ?

Howsoever cliched it might sound, but if at all we have to reach somewhere for an important job or meeting or whatever, can we not leave a bit early ? I guess, we all are fully aware of the traffic situation in our respective localities or destinations. Then, why the last minute hurry ?

Also, do we really need to feel the adrenaline rush every morning and prove a point by driving fasssssssssst….? C’mon, I guess its time we gave it a serious thought !

We can all be personally responsible, at least for ourselves, and make a difference to the situation. It was just because the other mobike guy was slow that the cycle person was unhurt….imagine what would have happened if it was otherwise!!!

Agreed, it’s important to be “fast” in today’s world, but I believe being slow ( or for those who take it personally, safe ) on the road is not a bad choice either. What say, people ???

Life is a death, be prepared for it

Friends,

Now we all are in the stage of telling “Good Bye” to our colleges. We all will remember each and every good or bad memory of our college days. So, here is to the college days!!!

“THE COLLEGE DAYS”

Just as I was about to retire,
Just as I was to extinguish the fire,
A thought flashed into my mind,
That I was to leave college days behind.

Those were the days of fun and frolic,
Those were the days of gifts and gossip,
Those were the days of bunking the classes,
Those were the days of “cheering” with tea glasses.

Days of bowing down before seniors in first year,
Days of fearing EDC and EMF the next year,
Days of running behind Profs for internals in third year,
Days of preparing for MBA and Campus the last year.

Now, these days will never come by,
Now, we’ll never do “Assignment ki Chapayee”,
Now, in the canteen, we’ll never have samosa and tea,
Now, in the gathering, we’ll never dance to the rhythm of beats.

No “hyaaa…t” screaming in the class,
No aero plane flying towards the dais,
No linking of girl’s name with that of a boy,
No fresher parties full of “masti” and joy.

But these days have taught us to take pride,
And also to take success and failure in our stride,
They have brought out our hidden talent,
They have taught us to be independent.

There are so many memories to take away home,
There are so many friends that I am not alone,
There are so many contacts in my “INBOX”
There are so many messages on “Sign-off”.

The extra tuitions, the BSNL training,
The “Hyderabad” tour, the canteen chatting,
The VII SEM seminar transparency,
The VIII SEM project: FACTS and FANTASY.

The Exam form, the Express coffee,
The Result day, the Class party,
The writing on the desk, the writing on the wall,
The cheating in exams, fearing one and all.

All these “yaadein” are there forever,
All the GFs-BFs, may there love be forever,
The “dost”s and “YASH” may change  NEVER,
May we all go to see a picture in the theatre!

So, Just as I was about to retire,
Just as I was to extinguish the fire,
Another thought flashed into my mind,
That this part of the tape will never “REWIND”.
