Be there, n make a Difference

Well … it so happened that I was going towards Dagdusheth Ganpati temple on this saturday and as the state assembly elections are just around the corner, tomorrow to be precise, there was this procession on the road of one of the political parties.

The candidate himself was “viraajmaan” on the “rath”. Notwithstanding the already existing traffic on the road, the netaji’s people were acting as traffic cops trying to regulate the direction of the procession and the traffic.

Just then, a man came on in front of my auto – which was just behind the netaji’s “shaan ki sawaari”. He looked so visibly pleased at being by the side of netaji’s rath. And as if this was not enough, one of the netaji’s chelas introduced him to the netaji and he shook hands with this man.

I cannot describe the joy which erupted on this man’s face, uncovering his partially toothless smile. Till this time, our rickshaw was following the rath. Since it was our turn to wait for the procession to proceed, I got a chance to observe that man. And I tell you, that smile was not to go for a long long time. He just kept on walking to the side of the road, with that big grin on his face. He was so bemused with himself as though he has achieved something unachievable.

I am sure, netaji would have no “ilm” of who the person was and other such trivial matters, after all he has more important things (?) to attend to … but this man, probably the netaji made his day/weekend by shaking hands with him.

Looking at all this, I was just wondering how true these words are : Happiness is just a state of the mind. In a period when we have people constantly chasing the ever-elusive happiness, we have this person with a partially toothless grin so happy at just getting introduced and shaking hands with a netaji that his joy knew no bounds.

Now, you may be wondering that ok, the man was very happy … so what? Why am I writing this incident here on my blog? Well … I have no specific reason for this, just that these thoughts flashed through my mind, while sitting in that rickshaw, and remained with me till this afternoon … so I thought ki jab itni der se dimaag me ye vichar ghoom hi rahe hain, toh why not jot them down … and what better place than my very own blog

Hey … it’s a good news !!!

and nooooo, not in the conventional sense of our hindi movies/serials … plz no !!!

its been a … a … just a good thing that one of my friends has started blogging … (well, actually, ’started blogging’ might be an exaggeration because he has just hosted his first public blog … but i am an optimist, you see) 

So, cheers to another blogger and let’s hope he keeps up his spirits …

oh, c’mon … no … not the alcoholic ones … i mean, the real ones, the spirit of blogging
