Hiiiii, I am back to writing after a long time….so this time it’s a post for a change and not a poem
Now, just as I began my bike journey today morning, I witnessed an accident which could have proven breath-taking in the ‘literal’ sense for someone. Two bicycle-riders, both having pillion riders, were made to bite the dust by a hurrying motor-cycle man. The guy on the mobike brushed the pillion rider on the outer bicycle.
The pillion rider fell on his right side and his sweater got hooked on the front-wheel break of another mobike rider who was just behind. Good thing that this one was not rushing and stopped there itself, or else the pillion rider would have gone sweeping the road…..and who knows how dangerous that might have gone on to be!!!
This popped a couple of question in my mind…
Do we really need to move so fast on the road endangering lives ?
What important job awaits us that we move in a flurry and get involved ( in accidents ) ?
Howsoever cliched it might sound, but if at all we have to reach somewhere for an important job or meeting or whatever, can we not leave a bit early ? I guess, we all are fully aware of the traffic situation in our respective localities or destinations. Then, why the last minute hurry ?
Also, do we really need to feel the adrenaline rush every morning and prove a point by driving fasssssssssst….? C’mon, I guess its time we gave it a serious thought !
We can all be personally responsible, at least for ourselves, and make a difference to the situation. It was just because the other mobike guy was slow that the cycle person was unhurt….imagine what would have happened if it was otherwise!!!
Agreed, it’s important to be “fast” in today’s world, but I believe being slow ( or for those who take it personally, safe ) on the road is not a bad choice either. What say, people ???
Hey Shweta.. good one.. a thought provoking blog!!
Shweta…
Welcome to wordpress…
Well very nice thoughts…Indians never reach anywhere on time..parampara hain apni..
Last minute hurry i always dangerous and shud be avoided..
Even i get carried away sometimes and drive bit fast..but i certainly have full control over it..
Still..this point of yours will run like a user thread in my main brain thread…
every1 says the same thing, ek baar poona mein aa jao - youll go mad @ the way we ride the bike here, and trust me i dont like it, i want to ride the bike at normal speed like others, but im so used to rash riding, i try my best to stay safe, lekin it doesnt last for more than 5 secs. My frnds dont wanna sit with me on my bike, they feel scared, & i dont understd what kind of men they are… But yr point is noted, & ill try and be a better and (more imp) safer rider.
Hi Aseem
Thanks..(for noting the pt ;-))

i was sent here by nitin. liked the post. But all these points make sense only for some time. For permanent effect, a tragedy has to happen.
I almost got killed on my b’day due to my rash driving. Result: 4 broken bones, Hand and shoulder severely burnt (still healing after 4 months and will take another 4-6 months for permanent healing), head injuries, internal injuries in the Liver and Spleen and some movement in left hand permanently lost!
Now I’m scared to cross even 50 in my car! No biking for another 2 months! and even if i’m riding pillion, I’m scared at 50-55. and I haven’t even talked about the mental trauma caused to me and my family.
Now when I sit back and think about it, I realise that it wasn’t worth the risk. Life is too precious, but unfortunately we don’t realise it unless we are on the verge of losing it.
